DESCRIPTION:Title: How in vivo cell tracking can boost cell-based immunotherapy development \nAbstract\nImmunotherapies are a diverse class of therapeutics with the common goal to manipulate the body’s immune system to treat disease. Some became game-changers for certain conditions\, many are under development\, but neither are free of caveats nor can successfully treat all patient cohorts. Cell-based immunotherapies represent a paradigm shift in therapy development but several aspects pertaining to their in vivo distribution and fate remain elusive. Molecular imaging-afforded in vivo cell tracking is a promising tool for the development and translation of cell-based immunotherapies.\nThis presentation will give an overview of the methodologies currently available for in vivo imaging of cell-based therapies\, preclinically and clinically. I will further explain how we developed long-term cell tracking approaches for therapy development in oncology and how we applied them to follow the in vivo distribution and fate of therapeutic cells over time in different disease models. I will focus on our recent work using cell tracking to support immunotherapy development in cancer and solid organ transplantation. The emphasis will lie on options that have the potential to aid the clinical translation of emerging cell therapies. Examples will be provided and are meant to stimulate the subsequent discussion about the benefits of imaging cell therapies. \nLink to organiser's website
